Fresh bouquet of floral, herb, and fruity scents. Nice pink-edged deep-red-rose color. Explosive flavors. Tart and tannic, but clear, clean fruit and a nice understated elegance. Deep, slightly bitter finish. Good balanced, pleasing wine. Cool frosted bottle Spanish tasting notes on the label give just the right sheen of mystery to this sleeper of a wondrous wine.

Cultura Malbec/Syrah 2003
60% Malbec, 40% Syrah. La Rioja, Argentina. Produced and bottled by: La Riojana COOP. 13.5%

Tart and smokey nose. A little diffuse and faded. Not nose filling nor expansive. Fruit forward with some nice ink and smoke tones. Tart and a tad bitter. Good but lacking dimensions. Not really "smooth" but "slender". Nice earthy/herby finish. A very pleasant wine, but not very intriguing. Definitely not up to the importers bottle catchphrase, "if you have never tasted passion, now you know what it feels like..." But, the best yet in the Syrah's around the world six pack from Mom.

Heavy ripe nose. Some savory elements and a bit of spice, Fruit forward with strong berry-cherry elements. Tannins on finish with strong dried fruits. Richer and more interesting after a bit of air. Seems like a different wine than the one I had right out of the bottle. Kinda reminds me of some Zins.
